Mr. Philip Cooper to visit SADER Mr. Philip Cooper, Financial Director and Project Leadre of " Reproductive Health Programme in Turkey " will visit SADER on October 03,2003,Friday. During the meeting to be held in tetra Konur Hotel between 12.00 p.m.- 02.00 p.m. , Mr. Cooper will provide our members with information on the following issues and the issue of how SADER can assist in this Project will be discussed. The objective of the program is to support Turkish society ( especially women ) with respect to reproductive health, in general , and to ensure that services concerning reproductive health are utilized more prevalently and suitable environment is created for implementation of policies on rights and prefences of reproductive health, in particular. Intended Outcomes : * Diversified and expended coverage of the services provided, * Improvement in quality of services for reproductive health, * Minimized differences in reproductive health data occurring between rural & urban areas, and eastern & western regions. Areas / Locations Where the Program will be Implemented : The program to be performed throughout Turkey will be concentrated on the locations that have the largest population that may benefit. The areas to be intervened with individual projects will be selected with regard to the needs of the local population. Majority of the project funds will be aimed at the locations where reproductive health indicators are the lowest, for the purpose of minimazing the regional differences and difference between the well-off and the marginal groups in provinces. The Project was initiated as from January 2003, and will last four years, but it is likely to be extended for one more year. Relevant department of Ministry of Health is carrying out feasibility study of the project at present and announcements will be made to the concerned parties at the beginning of 2004 ( since budget amount is high, they are studying meticulously on target zones / populations, items of procurement and terms of tendering ). Budget : Total Budget EUR 60.000.000.- Contribution of European Commission : EUR 55.000.000.- Contribution of Turkey : EUR 5.000.000.- Tender Opportunities: In December 2002, EPOS Health Consultants and Association of Options & Willows signed a service procurement agreement through a consortium between themselves. Following the project is announced and takes effect, solicitations shall be made for service, labor and product procurement tenders and for support from non-governmental organizations to such projects, within the framework of the first component of this program. |
